JERA Inviting Residents to Participate in Community Open Houses on August 3 & 5

Open Houses allow community to learn more about our proposed import terminal.

HONOLULU (July 14, 2026) — JERA Americas, the U.S. subsidiary of Tokyo-based JERA Co., Inc. (JERA), is inviting the public to participate in two open house events to learn more about natural gas and a proposed import terminal in Kalaeloa (near Barbers Point), ask questions and provide feedback. The events will be held at UH West Oʻahu’s Multi-Purpose Ballroom on Monday, August 3, and Neil Blaisdell Center’s Pīkake Ballroom on Wednesday, August 5. The public is invited to attend one or both events, which will be held from 4 – 8 p.m., with free parking available (the Blaisdell event will have free parking after 5 pm).

“These Open Houses are important opportunities for us to sit down with residents, answer questions face-to-face, and ensure everyone has accurate information about the proposed project,” said Erik Montague, vice president of development, JERA Americas. “JERA is committed to being a contributing member of this community, and we encourage anyone with questions or concerns to attend.”

In May, JERA, under its subsidiary, Longboard LNG, initiated the prefiling process with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The proposed project will go through a rigorous regulatory review for the proposed offshore floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), gas pipeline, and onshore gas import terminal at Kalaeloa. Longboard LNG’s prefiling request is available in FERC’s eLibrary under Docket No. PF26-10.
